Dr. Rebecca Vollrath Severn, DVM Dr. Rebecca Vollrath Severn is originally from Houghton, MI and graduated from Houghton High School in 2009. She attended Michigan Technological University for undergraduate education in biology. Outside of school she rode horses and competed in local horse organizations such as Timber Trails Riding Club, Upper Peninsula Horseman's Association, and the UP State Fair. She was accepted to Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine a year early and began her veterinary education in August 2012. During her time at Michigan State, Dr. Severn was involved in multiple organizations to further her diagnostic and surgical skills. She was an executive board member for the Equine Club and a committee chair for the Vet-a-Visit Equine Treadmill exhibit. To continue her equine education, she participated in the Peterson and Smith Equine Hospital Practicum, travelled to large equine hospitals around the country, and spent three weeks learning sports medicine on elite Hunter Jumper horses in Thermal, CA. Dr. Severn has an interest in equine medicine, especially dentistry, lameness, and emergency and critical care. She is excited to provide high quality equine veterinary care.

Dr. Severn also received acupuncture education through the Chi institute in Ocala, FL. As a certified Veterinary Acupuncturist, she can provide acupuncture to both large and small animals. Her particular interests include improving performance through acupuncture and massage. Dr. Severn will be attending horse shows throughout the summer season providing acupuncture for numerous patients.

Besides equine medicine, Dr. Severn spends the majority of her work with small animals. Her main concentrations are in small animal dentistry with our state of the art dental equipment and dental radiology. She also thoroughly enjoys any orthopedic surgery and has special training for cruciate surgery and fracture repairs. Outside of the surgical suite, she enjoys all ophthalmic (eye) cases and utilizing her ultrasound skills to diagnose a variety of conditions. Rehabilitation is a growing love and she enjoys performing acupuncture and planning for post surgical exercise.

Dr. Severn purchased the Copper Country Veterinary Clinic in 2019. It has been a challenging and exciting transition from just a veterinarian to a business owner as well. The practice has grown steadily and will be moving into our new location (built by her father Jeff Vollrath of Vollrath Inc) in 2021!!!! Outside of work, Dr. Severn spends time with her husband, Shane, and four dogs: Murphy, Winston, Olive, and Chester. She has a horse named Real Southerncomfort aka Whiskey and leases a horse named Hes Al Yours aka Eli. She shows the American Quarter Horse Association circuits - travelling to places like Wisconsin, Indiana, and even Oklahoma - to compete with both horses.

Callie

Hi, I’m Callie Hindman. I grew up near LaCrosse, Wisconsin on a small hobby farm where I began raising and handling various animals. Growing up, I was an active member of 4-H and FFA; these organizations ultimately sparked my passion for seeking a career in animal care and welfare.

I moved to Houghton, Mi in 2015 and have lived here with my husband, daughter, and our two dogs, Shiloh and Odin. We bought a house in the area in 2018, and I was able to add another four-legged family member, my childhood horse Brandy. In May of 2019, I joined the Copper Country Veterinary Clinic patient care team. There I have been able to carry on my dream of working with animals while continuing my education and training in animal health and welfare.

Grace

Grace was born and raised on a small farm in Pelkie where she has owned and cared for a variety of animals her entire life. She has always had an interest in veterinary science, so she has always focused on biology/science classes. In 2018, she became a member of the Copper Country Vet team. She has the skills and heart to contribute both in the clinic and on farm calls. In her spare time, Grace spends most days riding and competing with her two horses, but also enjoys hiking, spending time on the beach, and spending time with her friends and family. She also recently became the owner of two rough collies-Branch and Forrest. Grace has the experience, knowledge, and compassion to give our clients and patients the care that they deserve.

Hailey

Hi there! My name is Hailey and I am a proud member of the CCVC pack. When I’m not taking care of our clients fur babies-I enjoy outdoor adventures with my 3 large dogs, yoga, traveling, gardening and crafts of all varieties. After living in Alaska for a couple years, I couldn’t resist moving back to the UP. The wilderness and kind spirit of the Yooper life is like know where else. Thanks for reading, hope to serve you and your pets with optimal care!

Hope

I am Hope Haaland. I have been with the Copper Country Veterinary Clinic since 1995. I came here for my Vocational Training, then this place became my life. I love being an employee at the Copper Country Veterinary Clinic! My heart has always drifted towards spending everyday with fussy animals. I love knowing that I am someone that can help owners care for their loved ones.

Madison

Madison just joined our team in 2020 after graduating from Michigan Tech with a degree in wildlife biology. After a short break, she would eventually like to continue her education in veterinary science. Madison fell in love with the area and decided there was no better place to live. Her mother always called her Dr. Doolittle from such a young age for her love of animals and their attraction to her. She loves to be outside and go on hikes, occasionally with her rescued kitty Arctic. However, she loves all of the clinic pets!
