Dr. Rebecca Vollrath Severn, DVM Dr. Rebecca Vollrath Severn is originally from Houghton, MI and graduated from Houghton High School in 2009. She attended Michigan Technological University for undergraduate education in biology. Outside of school she rode horses and competed in local horse organizations such as Timber Trails Riding Club, Upper Peninsula Horseman's Association, and the UP State Fair. She was accepted to Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine a year early and began her veterinary education in August 2012. During her time at Michigan State, Dr. Severn was involved in multiple organizations to further her diagnostic and surgical skills. She was an executive board member for the Equine Club and a committee chair for the Vet-a-Visit Equine Treadmill exhibit. To continue her equine education, she participated in the Peterson and Smith Equine Hospital Practicum, travelled to large equine hospitals around the country, and spent three weeks learning sports medicine on elite Hunter Jumper horses in Thermal, CA. Dr. Severn has an interest in equine medicine, especially dentistry, lameness, and emergency and critical care. She is excited to provide high quality equine veterinary care.

Dr. Severn also received acupuncture education through the Chi institute in Ocala, FL. As a certified Veterinary Acupuncturist, she can provide acupuncture to both large and small animals. Her particular interests include improving performance through acupuncture and massage. Dr. Severn will be attending horse shows throughout the summer season providing acupuncture for numerous patients.

Besides equine medicine, Dr. Severn spends the majority of her work with small animals. Her main concentrations are in small animal dentistry with our state of the art dental equipment and dental radiology. She also thoroughly enjoys any orthopedic surgery and has special training for cruciate surgery and fracture repairs. Outside of the surgical suite, she enjoys all ophthalmic (eye) cases and utilizing her ultrasound skills to diagnose a variety of conditions. Rehabilitation is a growing love and she enjoys performing acupuncture and planning for post surgical exercise.

Dr. Severn purchased the Copper Country Veterinary Clinic in 2019. It has been a challenging and exciting transition from just a veterinarian to a business owner as well. The practice has grown steadily and will be moving into our new location (built by her father Jeff Vollrath of Vollrath Inc) in 2021!!!! Outside of work, Dr. Severn spends time with her husband, Shane, and four dogs: Murphy, Winston, Olive, and Chester. She has a horse named Real Southerncomfort aka Whiskey and leases a horse named Hes Al Yours aka Eli. She shows the American Quarter Horse Association circuits - travelling to places like Wisconsin, Indiana, and even Oklahoma - to compete with both horses.

Callie

Hi, I’m Callie Hindman. I grew up near LaCrosse, Wisconsin on a small hobby farm where I began raising and handling various animals. Growing up, I was an active member of 4-H and FFA; these organizations ultimately sparked my passion for seeking a career in animal care and welfare.

I moved to Houghton, Mi in 2015 and have lived here with my husband, daughter, and our two dogs, Shiloh and Odin. We bought a house in the area in 2018, and I was able to add another four-legged family member, my childhood horse Brandy. In May of 2019, I joined the Copper Country Veterinary Clinic patient care team. There I have been able to carry on my dream of working with animals while continuing my education and training in animal health and welfare.

Grace

Grace was born and raised on a small farm in Pelkie where she has owned and cared for a variety of animals her entire life. She has always had an interest in veterinary science, so she has always focused on biology/science classes. In 2018, she became a member of the Copper Country Vet team. She has the skills and heart to contribute both in the clinic and on farm calls. In her spare time, Grace spends most days riding and competing with her two horses, but also enjoys hiking, spending time on the beach, and spending time with her friends and family. She also recently became the owner of two rough collies-Branch and Forrest. Grace has the experience, knowledge, and compassion to give our clients and patients the care that they deserve.

Hailey

Hi there! My name is Hailey and I am a proud member of the CCVC pack. When I’m not taking care of our clients fur babies-I enjoy outdoor adventures with my 3 large dogs, yoga, traveling, gardening and crafts of all varieties. After living in Alaska for a couple years, I couldn’t resist moving back to the UP. The wilderness and kind spirit of the Yooper life is like know where else. Thanks for reading, hope to serve you and your pets with optimal care!

Hope

I am Hope Haaland. I have been with the Copper Country Veterinary Clinic since 1995. I came here for my Vocational Training, then this place became my life. I love being an employee at the Copper Country Veterinary Clinic! My heart has always drifted towards spending everyday with fussy animals. I love knowing that I am someone that can help owners care for their loved ones.

Madison

Madison just joined our team in 2020 after graduating from Michigan Tech with a degree in wildlife biology. After a short break, she would eventually like to continue her education in veterinary science. Madison fell in love with the area and decided there was no better place to live. Her mother always called her Dr. Doolittle from such a young age for her love of animals and their attraction to her. She loves to be outside and go on hikes, occasionally with her rescued kitty Arctic. However, she loves all of the clinic pets!

Sara

Hi my name is Sara. I grew up on a hobby farm in Atlantic Mine, Michigan. During my senior year of high school, I enrolled in a work based learning at the Copper Country Vet Clinic. I love that my job always has new things to learn and that I am always moving around. In my free time, away from work, I enjoy hunting, fishing, horseback riding, building computers, and gaming. I have two fur babies of my own, Mage who is a Siberian Husky, and Rosie who is a Black Lab Mix. Averie

Hi I’m Averie! I am a receptionist and have recently started as a vet
assistant here. I joined the team about a year ago and I have loved every
second of it! I have always had a love for animals and have wanted to work
with animals my whole life. My childhood was spent trying to convince my
parents to keep every stray I found. My aunt and uncle had a cat who’d have
kittens and every year my siblings and I would try to convince my parents
we needed to bring one home, spoiler, it never worked. So now I have 2 dogs
of my own, Suki and Lambeau. In my free time, when I’m not doing a diy
project on my house, I love to take my 4 legged children on hikes,
snowshoeing and to the dog park. In the summers my husband and I love to
take all our children out to the beach or to the parks! We love being
outside and by water as much as we can!

Alix

Geri

Madisyn

Hi, my name is Madisyn! I have lived in the UP all my life and have always
had an interest in veterinary science. I started working with animals when
I was 14 as a farmhand at a local dairy farm. Working there for 4 years
really solidified my interest in working at a clinic, especially one that
cares for large animals. I started at Copper Country Veterinary Clinic in
2021 after I graduated highschool. I was hired as a kennel technician and
quickly fell in love with the job. I am working as a veterinary assistant,
kennel technician and dabble in reception as well. In my free time I like
to read, workout, and chill at home with my pets; Kai my beagle mix, Billie
my Anatolian shepherd/great pyrenees Mix, and Mercedes the cat.

Natalie

Hi, I’m Natalie. I started at Copper Country Vet Clinic in 2022 as a vet
assistant, but my 20 years experience as a pet groomer drew me back to the
table. CCVC has allowed me the opportunity to be their groomer, providing
breed specific grooming for all breeds of dogs and cats. I also work as a
vet assistant and enjoy all aspects of veterinary medicine.

I am also the shepherd to my flock of hampshire/suffolk sheep, where I
provide market lambs for local youth to raise for our county fair. Along
with our sheep, our hobby farm includes 3 dogs, 2 cats, a horse, chickens
and ducks.

My husband, along with our 3 teenage kiddos enjoy camping, fishing,
hunting, gardening, winter sports and travel.

Chloe

Hi, I’m Chloe! I grew up in Howell, Michigan before moving to Houghton in

student at State University of New York for Veterinary Science Technology.
I started here at CCVC in September of 2022 as a veterinary assistant and

Meg

Hi my name is Meg. I’m excited to be a part of the CCVC team here in the
beautiful copper country. I’m looking forward to expanding my training here
at the clinic. Growing up I always had a big heart for anything involving
animals. As a kid I had bunnies, reptiles and a dog. My passion for animals
led me to Snowmass Colorado where I trained and worked as a dog musher/
handler. I finished my season by adopting two retired Alaskan huskies Ursa
and Phyllis. In my free time I enjoy canicross, hiking, camping, and sea
kayaking on lake superior.

Kaili

Hi! I am Kaili, I grew up in Ontonagon. From a young age I knew I wanted to
do something with animals. After Graduating High School in 2017 I explored
the SouthWest and took classes and worked on a Cattle Ranch in Nebraska. My
travels took me to Oklahoma where I attended a Horse Shoeing School and
earned my certificate in shoeing. I started my own business that provided
me with the ability to attend college Black Hawk College East and I was
even able to bring my horse with me! I had 2 colts that went through Colt
Starting with me. They both graduated from the program as well. I earned my
Associated in Equine Science in 2023.

I currently live in Atlantic Mine with my boyfriend on a 40 acre Hobby Farm
with 4 horses, a mini donkey, 2 cats, and one spoiled dog who is lucky to
come to work with me at times. I started at CCVC at the end of May of 2023
as a kennel attendant. I work hard both personally and professionally and
